Smetana Hall is located inside Municipal House – or Obecní dům, which is one of the best examples of Art Nouveau in the city, dating back to the beginning of the 20th century. The Smetana Hall, which seats over 1200, is famous for its glass dome and elegance and is said to be the principal concert hall for Prague.
Home to the Prague Symphony Orchestra, it is here that you will find an extensive programme of Chamber and Orchestral concerts with an impressive list of visiting artists from all over the world. There is also an array of family concerts, which are an interactive and fun opportunity for the children to experience music, and which are held in the Czech language. Perhaps not such a good idea if you’re only visiting but if you’re going to be living in this city and learning the Czech language than this is the perfect place to get the kids involved in local culture.
The FIK Music Club, supported by the Czech Ministry of Culture, is where youngsters from 6 to 10 years get the chance to explore music in a fun, inspirational and interactive setting. For programme information, tickets or information on the FIK Music Club visit the English version website.
